What types of groups are you involved with?
-Clean Elections/Campaign Finance Reform:
I have been a member of the national non-partisan group Democracy Matters since the fall of 2005, and I am currently heading into my 2nd year as coordinator of the group.
-Environmental/Climate Change:
I joined the SLU Coalition on Climate Change (C3) in the spring of 2007 after going on St. Lawrence's ADK Semester the previous semester. I was quickly put in as both the Treasurer and the Public Relations Coordinator/Representative. I am currently the President of the organization, heading into my 2nd year in that position.
What kind of activities or groups would you like to be involved with?
I would like to continue outreach on social justice issues and those that connect with clean elections or climate change/environmental issues on into the future.
What's the most inspiring event/person/occurance you have seen recently?
I was able to be a part of the Step It Up 2007 rally at St. Lawrence in a pretty big way, I was responsible for bringing in as many people as possible, and for making sure all bills were paid. That event pulled in 120 people which is big for our school, so that was very inspiring to me.
Meeting Governor Deval Patrick this summer after he signed the landmark Green Communities bill for Massachusetts, that was quite an eye-opening and inspiring event. He was really nice and down to earth and he even asked me about how my summer was going, even staying around long enough for me to tell him about it. I left that day feeling more confident and motivated than ever. :)
