- How did you hear about/meet BioTour?
- BioTour was conceived in April 2007 as an adventure by two friends. A post-college cross-country journey on a vegetable oil-powered bus left the two contemplating their roles in a society on the brink of great changes. As they drove across the United States, they encountered people who were inspired by their journey, excited about renewable energy technologies and concerned about climate change and resource depletion. But these issues remained disconnected, uncertain, and the solutions distant from the day-to-day lives of people they met. The soon-to-be co-directors of BioTour found a nation ready for change, but looking for direction. It was this discovery, along with their own recognition of ecological, political and socioeconomic realities, that demonstrated to them the opportunity and the responsibility to dedicate their time and energy to creating a full-time non-profit aimed at enlivening and catalyzing the sustainability movement. Their approach would eventually augment and unite the efforts of socially committed citizens across the nation and facilitate communication and greater networking/coordination with thousands of people about the issues that affect us all.
